Simon Hancock wins inaugural Psalm Competition
PRISM's Board of Directors is thrilled that Simon Hancock has won our International Psalm Chant Competition for 2024. Runner up was Andrew Crookall.
This competition was established by PRISM to foster creativity and connections across the globe, and we were delighted with the response and number of entries submitted in this inaugural event. More than 60 chants were entered by composers. The winning chant and runner up can be downloaded here.
“The judges very much enjoyed the skill and talent expressed in the chants, and are encouraged to see that the art form is alive and well,” says Vincent Fung, PRISM Secretary-General.
Simon is a composer and arranger from the UK, with an extensive background as a choral singer, church chorister, church music director, and organist. He has created carols, hymns, and worship songs for church services, along with crafting two school cantatas inspired by biblical narratives.https://www.simonhancockcomposer.com/
